Match report Wood toured Newquay on the week beginning July 24th and played two games. On Tuesday 25th July they travelled to Troon with only 10 men available to play. This ten soon turned to 9 as Ian Wooding took a turn for the worse as the previous day’s drinking caught up with him. Wood allowed Troon to make 239 all out in a 40 over match Craig Sampson taking 3-34. So wood required a run a ball to win the match and they eventually managed to do so, Ian Wooding having temporarily recovered opened the batting and somehow scored 16, however it was Peter Clarke (55) and Matt Sewell (50) who really got the innings going. However a quick flurry of wickets meant that victory looked to be slipping from the Wood’s grasp but then a superb unbeaten stand of 70 between Craig Sampson (31*) and captain for the day James Smith (55*) meant that the Wood scraped over the victory line with 2 wickets in hand.
