Match report
Answer to last week's question turned out to be NO. Two enforced changes, Mota and Ginger unavailable due to football commitments, meant we went in with a weakened side.
Having won the toss, we batted first. Abdul and Gaf were steady, only getting 17 runs off the first 4 overs. Gaf then getting run out to a smart direct hit. Abdul got 16 off one over, was probably only 3 short of his 25, decided to slog sweep the spinner off a wide ball, he missed and got stumped in the process. Small contributions from the skipper and Sumit got us going again, but the skipper was also out to a direct hit. Sumit went shortly after, leaving it to Wacash (17) and Hydow (18) to get us to a fighting total of 108. Hydow getting his first indoor 6, and looking the part more and more. Though both were runout, and we ended up not facing all our overs. 4 run outs in all, H&C showing some good energy in the field.
With 108 to defend, we needed a good start. First ball, Skipper bowled, simple catch off the wall put down. There opener went on to make 25 and we were left ruing what if. We bowled very well as a unit, Waqs picking up 2 wickets with leggies but our fielding wasnt up to the standard of the oppo. At least 4 run out opportunities went begging. Went to the last over, with us needing 1 wicket and oppo needing 2 runs. They got it, the oppo's skipper using a cool head to see them over the line.
Next game in 2 weeks, will we have M&G back?
Shahzad.
