Harold Wood Cricket Club Won by 59 runs

Match report Wood skipper Shahzad Hafeez won the toss and was forced into batting first, as the team were awaiting the arrival of 3 players travelling from the far reaches of Basildon. Gaf and Abdul got us off to a steady start, ensuring we didnt lose a wicket until the others arrived. Some interesting calling led to many mix ups in the running, but we somehow survived. Abdul batted well for his 25 and retired. Thus laying the foundations for swift contributions from Craig and Shahzad. An end score of 134 seemed about par, after all we were facing a side full of much batting promise.

Asians were going well after the first two overs of the chase, a drop in the first over from Hyde helping their cause. However, enter Craig come the 3rd over and the match turned on its head. A 2 hand pick up and direct hit from Shahzad run out one of the openers and then Craig struck a crucial blow clean bowling one of the Asian's pro, the same guy which has left Waqs with many sleepless nights. From there on, good tight bowling from Craig and Sam ensured we run out comfortable winners, with Craig also claiming the wicket of the 2nd pro (an x Wood player himself), thanks to some excellent keeping from Hyde. There was time inbetween for Abdul to bowl an over from "hell" - conceeding in the region of 10 wides, so many that we all lost count. :o)

But in the end, a 59 runs win meant the Wood started their indoor season off with a comfortable win.
