Match report Wood 3rd XI held on for a draw in a high scoring encounter against West Essex, Essex scored 289 for 4 off just 42 overs, Sam Walker being the pick of the bowlers with 2-36. Wood lost opener Jon Standage for zero, but then some big hitting from Chris Clarke (52) looked to have even got them on target for a win. However when he went the scoring settled down. Steve “The Wall” Faram scoring a patient 42 whilst Ross Wooding (25), Usman Khan (22) and Sam Walker (30) anchored the innings as wood lost wickets but just not quick enough to give West Essex the win. Ian Jones and Terry Pound (12*) managed to hold on as Wood finished on 208-9.
