Harold Wood Cricket Club 2nd XI - Saturday v Hutton on Sat 28 Jun 2014 at 13.00pm
Match was Drawn

Match report Hutton visited Harold Wood Park for a match anticipated top of the table clash.

Harold Wood started with a warm up, no injuries were suffered this week although players were disappointed not to play 'duck, duck, goose'. In taking the covers off the pitch, the Wood's inspirational vice captain cramped up. He recovered from this set back although his pride did take a battering.

Captain Marvel lost the toss yet again. This resulted in Harold Wood batting first and the first team talk of the day (there was to be a few).

Nad and Pete got the Wood off to a flyer before Pete snicked off and walked (also to be a running theme of the day). Nad and Bennett kept the innings going at a rate of knots. Harold Wood were 80-1 after 10 overs. Nad got out stumped trying to hit the Hutton spinner into Upminster whilst on 48. This shot coming the ball after Naddy had said to his partner, 'hey Chris, how do you like my defensive, good eh?!'

Burhan came and went quickly which brought Glen to the crease. Bennett got out 3 balls before drinks to a questionable stumping, which was soon followed up by a questionable LBW against Stuey Connor. Once again, the Wood proving a very charitable side to the opposition this year!

This brought the wounded animal to the crease. Bonner had been telling everyone how he was going to smash the spinner to all parts and he backed up his chat with some serious hitting. The Hutton spinner hit for 22 in an over which included three sixes into the playground, one rumoured to have hit a young child. Bonner was remorseless.

Glen saw the innings through, anchoring the lower order in a fine display involving multiple late cuts, much to the vice skippers surprise. The Wood racked up 240 before declaration.

Harold Wood went to the changing room for a team talk.

Harold Wood started well in the field, beating the bat numerous times. Wickets were shared between the bowlers at regular intervals. Each interval was met with a team talk, much to Big Bill's disgust.

Wickets were shared between the bowlers, obviously except Kingy who beat the bat on about 30 occasions without luck. A sporting affair with two Hutton players walking was enjoyed. It was nice to receive the rub of the green for the first time this season.

Harold Wood couldn't quite force through the victory but sent out a strong message by dominating one of their biggest rivals for most of the day.

At the end of the game Harold Wood had a team talk, possibly breaking some sort of record. Kingy spent most of his night in the bar telling people how unlucky he was but ultimately did not get a wicket. Harold Wood spent the remainder of the night drinking, eating chinese and singing Oasis. Nothing new there then.
