Leigh-on-Sea v Harold Wood Cricket Club 2nd XI - Saturday on Sat 31 May 2014 at 13.00pm
Harold Wood Cricket Club Won 8 wickets
Match report
Harold Wood twos picked up their first win of the season over Leigh-On-Sea. Luke Hammatt managed to lose the flick of the coin resulting in Harold Wood being forced to field on what appeared to be a very flat track.
King and Bonner kept it tight early doors and increased the pressure on the struggling Leigh top order. The Wood were unlucky, beat the outside edge numerous times. Morts was introduced into the attack and produced a self-proclaimed 'corker' and it was soon followed by the 'ball of the season'. Hammatt and Zohran bowled well under pressure at Kris bowled solidly at the death, doing well to take a caught and bowled using only his wrist.
All Wood bowlers performed and the team fielded well. Leigh would have been relieved to have scored 183 on a very flat deck.
Naddy went ballistic at the top of the order as per usual with the openers putting on 73, Pete admired from the other end. Kristen and Pete saw the game home with ease, hitting the balls to various parts of Leigh and even as far as Westcliff. Another guy batted in the top 4, didn't bat for long and got ribbed about it for the rest of the night (apparently it turned the other way?).
Harold Wood partied long into the night with Oasis classics blaring in the changing rooms. The win had been a long time coming and was celebrated in style... Harold Wood love a party.
