Match report Having asked no less then 21 people for their availability, we managed to put out a side. The fact we got 5 HWCC players and one Guest, was an achievement in itself.

The match itself saw us put into bat against a side who are "sponsored" to play indoor cricket and one which had no less than 3 "professionals" in their ranks. Razor and Chris opened the batting, and got us off to a steady start. Razor grinding his way to a solid 25 retired first. The skipper (yours truly) came in at 3 and played a brief cameo but was unfortunately run out backing up at the non strikers end after Chris played one of his many powerful straight drives, though on this occasion the bowler managed to get a finger tip on it and was left nursing the pain. At the half way stage we were 50-1, with Abul and Chris at the crease. Chris retired on 25 after 8 overs, and the platform was set for a big launch, however, this didnt quite materialise. What followed was a series of plays and misses, with the last 3 overs only yielding 12 runs! We somehow managed to end up on 103-2, and one of those wickets fell on the last ball. Seems as though the "new ball" was doing too much for our batters to even lay bat on ball. :)

We never created any real pressure in the field and eventually lost by 5 wickets with the oppo chasing down the score in 8 overs. The one wicket to fall was to the skippers "tidy off spin", holding onto a sharp ct & bowled chance. Abdul aka Misbah, showed good aggression and control in his 2 over burst, unleashing a couple of very well directed and pacy short balls.

First game out of the way, hopefully availability wont be so bad for the next game in 2 weeks.
