Match report The Essex League twenty20 competition started for Harold Wood on Wednesday 31st May. Harold Wood travelled to Rainham and performed well to win by 62 runs. Nadeem, Sohail who loves this type of cricket scored 79 as he and opening partner Rahill Mirza (37) put on 129 for the first wicket. Some big blows from Kevin Gibson (19) at the end of the innings meant that the wood managed to get to 161 for 3 off their 20 overs. In reply Rainham never really got going as wickets regularly fell. James Smith with on of the most bizarre ones as he bowled a big leg side wide first ball which the batsman was quickly stumped off by Tom Clarke. Craig Sampson was the hero with the ball as he took 5-23 off his 4 overs as Rainham were all out for 99 off 18 overs.
