Match report Wood 3rd Xi also recorded another win as they raced into the top 2 of their division having been promoted last year. Wood batted first and absoloutly battered the Fives and Heronians bowling. Openers Darren Ellis (85) and Jon Standage (53) put on 95 for the first wicket. But when Standage was given out LBW it was the introduction of Chris Clarke to the crease that really turned the game, he scored a very quick fire 89 not out as he and Ellis put on 135 for the 2nd wicket before Ellis was bowled. Gary Smith captain of Harold Wood for the day declared 2 overs early with Wood on 257 for 3 off 49.3 overs. Wood took wickets early on in reply with Terry Pound taking 2-51, and the wickets were shared around as Fives kept on putting on small partnerships but nothing large enough to worry the Wood fielders. Sam Walker was the pick of the bowlers with 2-15, but Andrew Damery 2-28 and Gary Smith 2-32 helped Wood get their victory as Fives were bowled out for 181.
