Match report On Saturday Wood took on top of the table Stanford, and got the better of a draw. Batting first Wood pilled on the runs to declare on 306 for 5 off their 52 overs. Wood openers Nadeem Sohail (90) and Sri Mangalapally (135) putting on an incredible 224 for the first wicket. Rahill Mirza also chipped in with an aggressive 43 before Wood declared on their imposing total.
In reply Stanford lost quick wickets and were 40 for 3 all wickets taken by James Smith (3-64), and Stanford looked to be struggling when losing their 6th wicket in the first over of the last hour with the score on 91. However the introduction to the crease of J Tarlington and P Gray meant that Wood just could not take another wicket Tarlingotn scoring well as he ended on 106 not out whilst Gray was 30 not out. Wood although disappointed with not winning did make up points on the division leaders and will hope to close the gap even more within the next few weeks.
