Match report Harold Wood after the great start in the cup pre league season capitulated to a 66 run loss to Old Southendians on Saturday. Having won the toss Wood were left to rue some dropped catches and a good innings of 87 from Old Southendians opening bat M Hope. The Southend team were able to declare with one ball left of the 52 overs on 200 for 8. Richard Brabner (3-35) and Kevin Gibson, who had 5 catches dropped off his bowling, took 3-48. In reply it was the loss of wickets in pairs that killed off the Wood run chase. The score was on 28 when the first and second wickets were lost, then after a good partnership between David Hollingsworth (19) and Rahill Mirza (47) had got the score to 94 they both fell within a ball of each other, and amazingly the same thing happen when the score reached 105 the 5th and 6th wickets fell. Wood never recovered from these double strikes and eventually were bowled out for a very disappointing 134.
