Match report Harold Wood lost the toss on probably the flattest wicket they will play on all season. Unsurprisingly, Belhus decided that they would chase.

Harold Wood's day got off to the worst possible start with Richard Bonner suffering a side strain injury in the nets trying to bowl too quick to the HWCC twos keeper. A tough blow for the Wood early doors.

Pete and Nad got off to another big start for the Wood putting on around 150 for the first wicket. Naddy was out in the 70s, visibly disappointed to have missed out on his hundred. Pete continued on his merry way, putting on 40ish for the second wicket with Bennett. The keeper finding another weird way to get himself out triggered a mini-collapse for the middle order.

In walks Stu Connor, fresh from a eighteen ball fifty in LMS on Tuesday night and a morning coaching session from the Saffa pro. A twenty ball 42 gave the innings added impetus, including some of the best shots seen this season.

Pete notched up his hundred and unleashed hell on the Belhus bowling attack having batted sensibly for most of the day. Harold Wood declared on 273.

Belhus got off to a flying start. Some dubious bump balls and LBW calls frustrated the Wood boys. The break throughs came steadily throughout the innings, Captain Marvell and 'leggie' bowling well in tandem once more. It looked like being a good finish but Luke took an important wicket to derail the run chase.

At the start of the day, having lost the toss, picking up maximum batting points and securing a draw was not the worst result. Harold Wood look forward to their next assignment, away to Ardleigh Green.
